How Much Money Has Movember Made?
The Movember campaign has become a global movement that has helped generate significant funds and awareness for medical research and support of cancer and mental-related illnesses; and there’s no slowing down.
The Movember campaign, which sees males across the globe flaunting their upper-lip hair to raise awareness and fund for men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems, has become a behemoths of a movement and the team behind the initiative have done a pretty damn-fine job.
According to the latest Movember Foundation report, the campaign has raised over AUD$580 million (around R5,82 billion) since launching back in 2003. Since the inception, over 4 million mo-bros have registered, grown their moustaches, and donated to the cause.
“As a global men’s health charity, the Movember Foundation has the privilege and the ambition to contribute to improve the lives of men in each of the countries that we serve. We are a strategic investor in research and health programs that have the potential to improve health outcomes for all the men we serve around the globe.” said Paul Villanti, Executive Director of Programs at the Movember Foundation.
Alongside many other participating countries in the world, Movember officially launched campaigns in South Africa in partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa in 2010, and things have been growing from strength-to-strength since then.
