Battlefield Hardline

EA and Visceral have dropped a spiffy new launch trailer for the cops-and-robbers spin-off, Battlefield Hardline, and the trailer offers viewers the ability to view the action in crisp 1080p/60fps – ironically, something the game won’t offer on PS4 and Xbox One.

Hardline will render at 900p on PS4 and only 720p on Xbox One – somewhat lower than the previously promised 1080p.

The game was initially set for an October 2014 launch, but DICE VP and group GM Karl Magnus Troedsson said the studio needed to “continue to optimise the game for a stable launch” after having “learned a lot from Battlefield 4″.

Battlefield Hardline features new variety of gameplay that breaks away from the traditional Battlefield game modes. The focus of the game has been shifted to police and the “war on crime”, breaking away from the military setting that has hitherto characterized the series. As such, the main factions in Hardline are the police Special Response Units and Criminals. Players will have access to various military-grade weapons and vehicles, such as the UH-60 Blackhawk as well as having police equipment such as tasers and handcuffs.

Battlefield Hardline will hit store shelves on 19 March 2015.
