After Marvel struck a deal with Sony to incorporate Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with an appearance in Captain America: Civil War next year, there have been lot of questions floating around on who will play the web-crawler and what version we’ll be seeing.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that the new Peter Parker will be a teenager this time, telling Collider that “in terms of the age of what we believe Peter Parker is, I’d say 15-16 is right”, adding that “some of my favourite Spider-Man arcs and Spider-Man stories, he’s in high school for a lot of it. We want to explore that”.

“That also makes him very, very different from any of our other characters in the MCU, which is something else we want to explore: how unique he is when now put against all these other characters”.

That said, just because we’re getting a new teen Peter Parker and Spider-Man, that doesn’t mean we’re getting another origin story. In fact, we definitely aren’t.

“There is a young kid running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU”, Feige explained to Crave. “You just don’t know it yet. In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever… for us, we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics”.

And one last tease for the new Spider-Man: “we’re already designed the costume, which is different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see”.

This might actually be interesting. All the Spider-Man movies have really been average so far. The reboots were only slightly better than the ones before. It’s a comic that works better as a series. The only reason they keep pumping them out is so that they don’t lose the cinema rights
