Tru Blu and Big Ant Studios’ Rugby League Live 3 is looking to fill the gap that other rugby games (union included) have left, and the Australian developer has released a brand-new trailer for the game, revealing that the Auckland Nines tournament will feature in the game.

The Auckland Nines is a faster, shortened version of the traditional rugby league format (think Sevens, but for the rugby league world). Only nine players are on the field (opening up a lot of space for some great running), with only two nine-minute halves being played. It’s fast, frenetic and should be a load of fun in the game. You can check some of the real-world Nines action here.

The game obviously features the full format seen in other Rugby League Live games in the past. However, this time there’s an improved career mode, Be a Pro mode, improved graphics, online play, and an enhanced replay system allowing you to take control of your highlights.

Rugby League Live 3 was originally set to launch in June, but in a recent update from the developers, the game will now arrive on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and Steam in August. South African availability is still uncertain (we’re investigating this), but it can always be ordered online.
