French video game publisher and distributor BigBen Interactive has unveiled the first screenshots of the official Rugby World Cup 2015 video game, which will be landing on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Windows PC in September this year.

There are three screenshots for the game and the first in-game images we’ve seen from the upcoming release.

Having a look at the screens, it’s clear that HB Studios is using the base of Rugby 15 (which released to rather poor reviews last year) as the base, with some new slight graphical tweaks and international kits.

The game features the official Rugby World Cup license, however no further details have been given regarding the licensed teams. It was revealed that the Springboks, All Blacks, and Wallabies will appear in another rugby game this year, Rugby Challenge 3, after the respective unions said they were in discussions with Home Entertainment Suppliers (HES), who distribute the Rugby Challenge series.

From the screens, it’s difficult to determine if there are major differences to the gameplay from Rugby 15, so we’ll have to wait for a trailer or gameplay demo to give a closer-look at RWC 2015.

Last week, local retailer Raru also listed the game for a 4 September release, and posted a description on the game which included some of its new features.

To be honest it only looks slightly better than the last rugby game. Only difference is that they have the license for the kits and names?

Not much different AT ALL. Really curious to see a trailer or gameplay demo of it.
