What’s better than a burger? To be honest, nothing really. But a monster truck comes pretty damn close.

To tie-in with Burger King’s colossal-sized Big King XXL burger, the hunger-busting franchise pulled off a stunt worthy of any daredevil feat.

While an activation event around the Big King XXL was taking place at the East Rand Galleria Mall, a giant monster truck, which first appeared to be simple for display, crushed two bystandng cars (which were set up to be crushed, of course).

The truck, weighing more than six tonnes and standing 3.8 metres tall, is one of only two of its kind in South Africa. Just like at popular monster truck shows in the USA, the larger-than-life truck had locals amazed as it revved its 700 horse power engine at a deafening sound of 150 decibels, crunching its way across the parking lot.

“The reactions today were fantastic; people were really caught off-guard and thrilled at what they experienced – a one-of-a-kind experience in South Africa,” said Rozanna Kader, marketing and communications director of Burger King South Africa,

As for the Big King XXL, it’s a real heavyweight in its own right – featuring an amazing five-inch diameter bun, 227g* of freshly flame-grilled 100% pure beef, two cheddar cheese slices, fresh lettuce, sliced white onions and crunchy pickles, covered in a creamy sauce.
