5 Chic Coffee Trends to Try in 2018
Upgrade your morning caffeine-boost this year!
Everybody loves a good cup of coffee, but your standard cup of instant coffee can become repetitive and maybe even a bit boring. If you’re in search of something new to try, check out Nespresso’s coffee trend predictions for 2018!
Iced Coffee
Iced coffee will be all the rage this year as people take their favourite caffeinated beverage to oh-s0-cool new levels. Not keen to leave the house? DIY your favourite iced drink from the comfort of your own home with Nespresso’s new limited edition coffee pods – Intenso on Ice and Leggero on Ice – designed especially to be served cold. Feeling particularly creative? You can also turn your iced coffee into coffee popsicles!

Coffee Cocktails
This year you can expect to see tons of coffee in the form of cocktails. From beer to vodka, and whisky, coffee beans are being infused into a host of brand new drinks which will be available in liquor stores. A boozy brew is the perfect drink for entertaining friends and family at home or sampling at the trendiest bars in the city.
Convenient Caffeine
Love the convenience of a coffee-to-go but hate the single-use cups it’s served in? Opt for an eco-friendly travel mug instead. These mugs are designed to keep your cold drinks cool and your hot drinks warm! You can fill it up at home with your favourite blend or ask your barista to use your travel mug instead of a disposable one.
Sweet and Simple
Millennials are the fastest growing group of coffee drinkers and tend to have a sweeter palate rather than an acidic or bitter one. Coffee trends are, therefore, leaning towards trendier, sweeter drinks to appeal to this market. 2018 will see an expansion in flavoured coffee syrups, iced and sweet coffees and natural coffees because of their sweetness.
Nitro Coffee
This cool new trend branched out of the craft brewing craze and creating the drink involves infusing coffee with nitrogen gas. The result is a rich and creamy texture as well as carbonation that is similar to porters and stouts, which are also pumped with nitrogen. An added benefit of nitro coffee is that it is very strong, making it much more portable – look out for nitro coffee being sold in cans at grocery stores and petrol stations in the coming months.
Here’s to trying new things in 2018!
