Watch Neill Blomkamp’s Brilliant Sci-Fi Short ‘Rakka’ Right Now

Neill Blomkamp, director of District 9, Elysium, and Chappie (and a proud South African export), has taken to the internet for his next project called Oats Studios – a film project to create “experimental” shorts he otherwise couldn’t with Hollywood’s bureaucratic nonsense; and the first signs are extremely positive.

Rakka is the first short film from the studio, and stars Sigourney Weaver and a host of other local and international actors. There’s not too much backstory to this one, but some exposition explains that Earth has been invaded by some alien race who is harvesting humans for some bizarre experiments.

It’s gritty, gory, and so intriguing that it warrants a follow-up or sequel of some sorts.
