4 Big Movie Releases You Can Watch This Weekend
Which movies are hitting our big-screens this weekend? MenStuff gives you the low-down on what’s what.
If you’re planning on hitting the movies this weekend, we’ve got you covered for what’s on. This weekend we’ve got a psychological thriller, a hilarious animated adventure, a returning spirit, and an angry Jason Statham, which is always awesome.
True Story
Frequent collaborators Jonah Hill and James Franco are starring in a new film together, but this time, it’s no laughing matter. In True Story, Hill plays disgraced New York Times journalist Michael Finkel opposite Franco as Christian Longo, a man charged with killing his own family and taking Finkel’s name. The journalist ended up writing True Story: Murder, Memoir, Mea Culpa about how their lives intertwined. It looks pretty disturbing with some impressive-looking performance from the duo.
Inside Out
Much-buzzed-about animated outing about a young girl whose emotions compete for control of her mind. With the voices of Diane Lane, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Kyle McLachlan and Bill Hader. Rated PG for action and mild mature themes.
Insidious Chapter 3
Those pesky spirits just won’t seem to rest, as Insidious Chapter 3 hits theatres this week. This time, however, the film is a prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family seen in (Insidious 1 and 2) that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
Wild Card
When The Statham is in a movie, there’s one guarantee: people are going to get punched in the face, and Wild Card will have a lot of that. The film follows a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal skills and a gambling problem, but he gets in trouble with the mob (c’mon, Jason…) and has to find a way out of his problems. Consider us sold.
