5 Epic Games Releasing In SA This Week

This week, golf fanatics get their fix with EA’s PGA Tour series, albeit with a new face on the cover. We also get a ramped-up version of the physics-based motorbike game, Trials, and see the return of the most brutal god-killer as well as the legendary king of monsters.

Rory Mcilroy PGA Tour

Release Date: 14 July (PS4, Xbox One)

EA has officially handed the torch from Tiger Woods to Rory McIlroy for their series of golf games, with this year’s Rory McIlory PGA Tour game being Rory’s debut. The franchise has been in desperate need of a resurgence, and the new look and name should deliver just that, along with some impressive graphics and smooth gameplay. If you love golf games, this is likely already on your must-buy list.

Trials Fusion Awesome Level MAX

Release date: 14 July (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

If the opportunity to play as a gun-toting cat riding a unicorn is your kind of fun, then Trials Fusion’s expansion pack, Awesome Level MAX, should be on your radar. For those who may not know, Trials is all about navigating a physics-based motorbike through increasingly difficult levels filled with crazy obstacles, so we expect this expansion to take a more fantastical approach to the gameplay. Consider us sold.

God of War III Remastered

Release date: 15 July (PS4)

The critically-acclaimed God of War III makes its way to the PS4 this week for another bloody spin. The game has seen an upgrade though, and gameplay will be rendered in 1080p and running at 60fps, giving a new sense of speed and clarity to the god-hunting action, and the title will also include all previous DLC costumes and content.

Godzilla

Release date: 17 July (PS3, PS4)

The King of Monsters is making his way to the PS4 for the first time, and we’re not quite sure what to think about this upcoming game just yet. But if you’re into Godzilla, Mothra, and other giant creatures, you’ll be able to destroy a city (and other monsters) using any number of them. Conceptually, the game looks good, but the footage we’ve seen so far doesn’t impress, as it looks to have some technical issues. Still, we’re curious to see if the title holds any merit when it is releases this month.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

Release date: 15 July (PS4)

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a first-person mystery game focused on exploration and discovery. You play the game as Paul Prospero, an occult-minded detective who begins the search for a missing person, Ethan Carter, after receiving a disturbing letter from Ethan himself. The game aims to significantly evolve immersive storytelling in games. While it features a private detective and quite a few mental challenges, it is not an especially puzzle-ridden game.The focus is on atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of our characters.
