Burgundy and gang back for Anchorman sequel
Channel 6 News team making a valiant return.
Deadline.com has reported that there will be a sequel to the widely successful 2004 smash hit Anchorman.
So far three of the four Channel 4 news team members have signed on for the sequel. While Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd have agreed to return, there is still no confirmation from David Koechner. Producing duties will fall to Judd Apatow while Adam McKay will direct as well as co-write the script with Ferrell. There is still no word if Christina Applegate will reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone.
Farrell appeared on Conan O’ Brien’s talk show last night to announce the news. Below is the video of that appearance:
Here’s to hoping the sequel won’t crack under the pressure to live up to its predecessor as we have seen with sequels many times before.
There is no official release date set for the film.

It’s so funny looking back at what people anticipated for sequels and what actually happened.
“Here’s to hoping the sequel won’t crack under the pressure to live up to its predecessor as we have seen with sequels many times before.” I’d hate to tell you but they did Past-Jimmy. Now Future-Jimmy can only hope that they don’t make Anchorman 3!

Hahaha, it’s true – looking back shows how the hype generates out of nothing at times. Purely because an original was good, doesn’t mean a sequel will be good, or should even be made for that matter.
