This weekend gives movie-goers a number of new films that will deliver thrills, action, and a few laughs, depending on what you’re in the mood for, of course. Here’s our picks for movies releasing Friday, 18 November 2016:

Blood Father

Release date: 18 November 2016

Mel Gibson has had a few ups and downs in recent years, but there’s no denying his capability as an actor. For his new film, he’s starring in Blood Father, as an ex-con proecting his daughter from drug dealers. It’s French-produced movie, from director Jean-Francois Richet, who helmed the US remake of Assault On Precinct 13. It’s the kind of Euro-thriller that helped turned Liam Neeson into such a bankable action movie star, by the looks of it.

Max Steel

Release date: 18 November 2016

Max Steel is the potential-packed superhero film for those craving some superhero action this weekend. Based on the Mettel toy line, Max Steel tells the origin story of 16-year-old Max McGrath (Ben Winchell) and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth and fight the mysterious forces threatening their world.

Skiptrace

Friday, 18 November 2016

It’s been a while since we’ve had a good buddy-cop flick, and Skiptrace could be something to fill that void this weekend. Bennie Chan (Jackie Chan), a detective from Hong Kong, has been investigating a notorious criminal named Victor Wong for over a decade. When his niece gets involved with Wong’s syndicate, Chan must track down and convince Connor Watts (Johnny Knoxville), a fast-talking American gambler, to team up and return to China in order to rescue his niece and foil the Chinese kingpin.
