Top 5 Drone Videos of 2017 (So Far)
Check out this year’s most spellbinding drone videos!

2017 is basically a new-born, still just learning to find its feet and bumping its head on every coffee table in the vicinity, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t already been graced with some epic drone videos to feed our inner-cinematographers. We’ve rounded up the best of the best (so far) for your viewing pleasure:
Down under
Like South Africa, Australia is a breathtakingly beautiful place, it’s no secret. The diversity of wildlife and landscapes make it a unique location for filming. Australia – The Eagle Eye from award-winning documentary filmmakers Wild Pacific Media, showcases this by using drone footage to mimick an eagle’s eye (hence the name). The footage lets you soar over spots ranging from The Kimberley, Arnhem Land and The Pilbara to the WA Deserts, Cairns and Cape York.
Weelcome home
SpaceX CEO and Saffa-born Elon Musk shared this drone footage of the Falcon 9 rocket’s first stage returning for a perfect landing, after the launch of the SpaceX Dragon resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) on Sunday 19 February 2017.
Proudly South African
Jan Jordaan is a practicing attorney but in his spare time he is a bit of a local travel enthusiast, a perfect way to break away from the work stress. When Jan does travel, he always makes sure he has GoPro and drone with him. Jan gathered 3 months of travel footage into one amazing collection, showing off parts of our country in a brand new and exciting way.
I’m moving to Iceland
A drone photographer captured some incredible footage of Iceland at night, with only the full moon and Northern Lights to guide him. The video was shot by Njarðvík-based photographer, Ozzo, who hopes to expand his project and film in many other locations in Iceland, and we hope he does – it’s truly mesmerising.
Sharks on the move
A recent video by Hydrophilik shows thousands of blacktip sharks, congregating between Fort Pierce and Vero Beach, Florida, during their annual migration period. It’s pretty terrifying, but gorgeous nonetheless.
And if you’re looking to dabble in some drone photography yourself, weFix has just received stock of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro (epic). Head over to the weFix online store to check out the drone products available.
