McIlroy to Chase History at the Quail Hollow?

We take a look at the first PGA Tour stop, the Quail Hollow.

North Carolina’s Quail Hollow will play host to the opening of PGA Championship which tees off this week.

Rory McIlroy, following his 5th place finish at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational last week, is in the driving seat to put in a good performance, as the 28-year-old has won the Wells Fargo Championship two times and shot a course-record of 21 under par in 2015. The Scottish star clearly has an affinity for the course, and even though it has undergone some notable changes over the past year, he should be in a good position to challenge for the trophy.

Another competitor will be Grand Slam-chasing Jordan Spieth. Despite his underwhelming performance at the WGC-Bridgestone, Spieth has a knack for a comeback and could get his PGA Tour off to a good start if he remains consistent.

Ricky Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama (following his win last week) will also provide good odds to cause an upset and continue their tournament momentum into the PGA Tour.

It should be an interesting start to the Tour and seeing if Spieth can get a back-to-back Grand Slam defence underway will be a point of focus, as he, of course, has done this before.
