What better way to spend a Sunday morning than a walk along Sea Point Promenade with your pup? If you’re looking for an excuse to head down there then Paws on the Promenade, is IT … and it’s for a great cause!

Taking place on Sunday 18 February, the event will see dog owners and lovers enjoy a leisurely walk along the stunning Sea Point promenade with proceeds from the event going to Mdzananda Animal Clinic based in Khayelitsha. The 2017 Paws on the Promenade event raised R24 000 with a huge attendance of 271 dogs and people and this year, it hopes to raise even more in support of the animal welfare clinic.

The route begins at Mouille Point lighthouse and extends to the Sea Point swimming pools and back, totalling around five kilometres. Fear not, however, those with old or tired pets (or other humans) will have the option of shorter turnaround points so everyone is welcome!

Don’t have a dog? No problem! People without pups are also welcome, and you’ll have the option of choosing to walk with a stray dog that’s up for adoption. You can book a dog keep you company by sending an email to info@mdzananda.co.za.

The day will also offer few freebies with Vondi’s Holistic Pet nutrition providing a limited number of goodie bags for the first 200 pups to arrive at the event plus fantastic prizes for a few lucky walkers. The walk starts at 09:00 and registration on the day starts at 8:00. If you’d like to dress up, the dress code is ‘dress like your pet’ or ‘wear the colour orange’.
