5 Most Anticipated Games of January 2019
Which games should you have on your radar this month?

2019 is finally here and as far as gaming goes, it’s kicking off with a cracker of a month! January is reigniting consoles and PCs with an old-school horror revival, a returning crossover franchise, and a sky-high veteran of the clouds. Check out our picks for the games releasing in January 2019:
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Release date: 18 January 2019 (Xbox One | PS4)
If you’ve been itching to blow some things up in the sky, legendary dogfighting series Ace Combat makes its return this month with Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. Gameplay mechanics with Ace Combat entries have always been solid, so a lot of attention has been paid to the authenticity of the aircrafts and realism of the environments this time around thanks to some breathtaking visuals. You’ll also be able to do a whole lot of snazzy aerial stuff, like hiding in clouds and barrel-rolls, so that’s always a plus.
Onimusha: Warlords
Release date: 15 January 2019 (Xbox One | PS4)
Any PS2 gamer should remember Capcom’s Onimusha series. Well, the first game in the beloved samurai-inspired action adventure franchise has been given a remaster and makes its way to Xbox One and PS4 this month. It’s stylish, difficult, and will appeal to fans of the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry games.
Resident Evil 2
Release date: 25 January 2019 (Xbox One | PS4 | PC)
Onimusha isn’t the only revival releasing this month, as Resident Evil 2 gets a new lease of life on the Xbox One and PS4 this January. However, this isn’t a straight-up remaster, but an entire remake of the original Playstation classic, bringing gorgeous new graphics, mechanics, and the over-the-shoulder third-person camera now famous to the series. It looks incredibly polished, and we can’t wait to get our hands on this one.
Kingdom Hearts III
Release date: 29 January 2019 (Xbox One | PS4)
It’s been a long time coming, but Kingdom Hearts III finally releases this month after numerous delays and release date shuffles. The Final Fantasy x Disney crossover sequel will bring some much-needed closure to a beloved action-RPG series, and while we’re a little concerned that the story has become a little too convoluted, we’re excited to team up with the Buzz Lightyear and Woody when it drops this month!
Tropico 6
Release date: 25 January 2019 (PC)
Aspiring tyrannical or peaceful leaders will be ecstatic to know that construction and management sequel, Tropico 6, enters office this month. As with previous games in the series, players will be able to build their cities across colonial, modern, and wartime eras on the tropical nation of Tropico, along with a new feature letting players build on an archipelago of smaller, connected islands. It’s a tried-and-tested gameplay formula that’s incredibly addictive, and it’ll be interesting to see the new features in play.
