With the current coronavirus pandemic across the globe, many studios and film projects have either been put on hold or reshuffled to give movie-goers their fix at a later stage. While 2020 was lining up to be a monster year for movies, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see these 5 blockbusters now slated for 2021.

Fast & Furious 9

Nothing seemed like it could slow down the continual roll out of the Fast & Furious franchise movies, but alas, Fast & Furious 9, which was set to be released in May has now been delayed until April 2021. We’ll have to wait a fair bit longer to see Vin Diesel go head-to-head with John Cena in the next instalment in the high-octane franchise.

Venom 2

Originally supposed to release in October, Andy Serkis’ Venom sequel will hit cinemas in June 2021. Officially titled, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the follow-up will see Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock going up against Woody Harrelson’s Carnage, another iconic symbiote villain from the Spider-Man universe.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Like Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Sony’s decision to shift its entire slate of theatrical releases has also effected Jason Reitman’s small town-set Ghostbusters resurrection. The film, which stars Paul Rudd, is pushed from July 2020 to March 2021.

Morbius

Another standalone supervillain outing has been halted, as Jared Leto’s interesting-looking Morbius origin film has been delayed from July 2020 to March 2021. We’ll have to wait a little longer to see how this vampiric foe fits into the overarching Sony/Marvel Spider-Man universe.

Morbius 1

The Eternals

Marvel’s next big star-studded entry into the MCU has seen delayed from November 2020 to February 2021, which will push all the other Marvel-related movies (Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, and Spider-Man 3, for example) further into 2021 and 2022.
