Listen, it’s been a tough few weeks without our favourite alcoholic drinks. While many of us did our best to stock up for the initial 21-day lockdown period, after weeks of extensions those reserves ran dry and we were forced to endure lockdown without a glass of wine, cold brew, or yummy cocktail to take the edge off. Luckily that life of misery is set to come to an end soon after a recent government announcement that the sale of alcohol will once again be permitted from the 1st of June, 2020.

Of course, with social distancing protocols in mind, it’s probably not wise for us all to rush out to the shops on the 1st of June to purchase our favourite tipples. Ordering your fix online is a far safer option and loads of alcohol retailers will be taking pre-orders now for delivery when level 4 lockdown and the ban on alcohol sales lifts come 1 June. Not sure where to shop? Here are our picks for the best places to order wine, beer, and spirits online for South Africa’s level 3 lockdown period.

Delivery is nationwide and free for orders over R1,850.

Bottles

The much-loved alcohol delivery app did a 180 during lockdown and announced its drivers would be switching out deliveries from your favourite local bottle stores to the delivery of essential goods from Pick n Pay. Bottles embraced a tricky time for its business and turned things around to keep its drivers employed and customers serviced with an innovative move. Come 1 June, Bottles will be back in the alcohol delivery business alongside its new offerings. Download the Bottles app for quick delivery of your favourite booze to your door.
