Guys, we’ll admit it for you – looking after ourselves is a lot of work. We just don’t have the perseverance and dedication to prime ourselves day in and day out (like we should be doing), but given the harshness of life and some great new easy-to-use products available, we thought it was only fair to highlight some items that can make the grooming process something to look forward to, rather than dread.

If you’re tight on time

Dry shampoos are a thing now, guys. But what exactly does that mean? Well, dry shampoos are essentially degreasers that absorb oils in your hair, so you can get that freshly-washed look anytime, without having to extensively wash your hair and cause damage. Hobo Hair (from Johnny’s Chop Shop) is an easy-to-use dry shampoo which you can simply spray into your hair, work it in, and reduce the oiliness. It works well and gives you that dryer body to those notably greasier parts of your hair. You can check out how to use it here.

Hobo Hair Dry Shampoo is priced at R90 and available from Dischem.

A no-fuss face-wash solution

If you’re looking for a simple face-wash that delivers all the goodness of essential oils without being too thick, oily, and overbearing, Fino’s Face Wash is a great option. It’s clear, silky smooth, and smells great, which makes it a pleasure to use in the shower every day, rather than frowning at that bottle of random face wash.

Fino’s Face Wash is priced at R57.99 (on special) and available from Clicks.

After the shower

Many guys aren’t interested in having multiple creams and lotions for their face, body, and whatever else needs attention. So, if you’re in the market for a quick, all-in-one solution to sue when you jump out of the shower, Beauscience’s Face & Body Revitalising Lotion gives you a light, non-greasy day and night cream which still has that luxurious feel to it.

Beauscience’s Face & Body Revitalising Lotion is priced at R72 and available from Takealot.

For a close (and natural) shave

Too many shaving creams feel the same, so if you’re interested in something a little different (and natural), Earthsap’s Tea-Tree Shaving Cream is an awesome little product to try out. Coming in a small tub, the shaving cream features no synthetic fragrance, no harmful chemicals, and no petroleum; meaning that you’re getting an anti-septic and anti-bacterial shaving solution. You just put some hot water with it, massage it until it foams a little, and boom – you’re ready for a smooth shave. Minimal mess and no wastage of white foam all over the place.

Earthsap’s Tea-Tree Shaving Cream is priced at R109 and available from Faithful to Nature.

A clear solution

OK, we now peel-off masks are more familiar with the ladies, but there are options out there designed specifically for us guys. Freeman Beauty’s Volcanic Ash pore clearing peel-off mask is a welcome product for us gentleman, which lets you apply the black (and admittedly cool-looking cream) across your pore areas, allow to dry for 5-10 minutes, and then peel off, opening up and clearing your pores of blackheads or dirt. It leaves you feeling fresh and rejuvenated without having to even visit a spa.

Freeman Beauty’s Volcanic Ash pore clearing peel-off mask is priced at R119.95 and available from Dischem.
