Xbox Series S: Smaller, Cheaper Next-Gen Console Revealed
Microsoft unveils its baby-brother to the Xbox Series X.
Ahead of the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox Series X next-gen console later this year, the tech company has unveiled a smaller iteration of the incoming console, named the Xbox Series S.
Touted as the “smallest Xbox ever”, the Series S will feature the same hardware and capabilities of the Xbox Series X, but will not have a disc drive.
An image of the console was posted on Xbox’s social media accounts, showcasing the smaller white box which includes a cooling vent on the top, along with a USB drive and (presumably) the standard controller-reset button on the face of the console.
Microsoft South Africa has also officially revealed the local price of R6,999, which makes it significantly cheaper than the speculation around the Series X’s price. Microsoft also revealed that the console will launch on 10 November 2020.
