Nike’s ‘Hands-Free’ Shoes Could Be an Absolute Game-Changer

Nike’s FlyEase lets you whip your sneakers on and off without using your hands.

The footwear industry has seen some pretty ‘out-there’ concepts in recent times, but Nike’s new FlyEase design might just take the cake, but it has an incredibly practical rationale behind it.

The Nike Go FlyEase doesn’t feature laces, but instead has a two-piece construction which opens and collapses, allowing you to put your foot in and lock those puppies down, or with a slight hold (using your other foot) on the heel, open them to release your foot.

Behind the shoe’s smooth motion is a bi-stable hinge that enables the shoe to be secure in fully open and fully closed states.

While the design will be immediately attractive to anyone who hates constantly bending down (just about everyone), FlyEase could be a huge innovation for the elderly and those who struggle with putting on and taking off footwear daily.

The Nike GO FlyEase is available initially via invite for select Nike Members, with broader consumer availability planned for later this year.
