There’s no denying that the Huawei Watch GT 2e has some impressive hardware features, including an AMOLED display screen, GPS and uninterrupted pulse rate monitoring, as well as the power to track a wealth of sporting actions; but does it do enough to warrant your consideration?

Huawei Watch GT 2e Price and Availability:

You’ll likely find the Huawei Watch GT 2e on sale nowadays, with the watch retailing for around R2,999 from a variety of different retailers. Whereas the Watch GT 2 came out with two dial sizings, the Watch GT 2e comes out only one – 46mm. As far as the designs go, you have an option between a steady-looking black or flashier Lava Red and Minty Green, which include some accessories alike to Nike’s add-ons for the Apple Watch.

Design and Display

We like the design direction that Huawei has opted for with the Watch GT 2e, which moves away from the classic appearance of the Watch GT 2 and gets on a more advanced style that feels a bit more modern. The most significant change is in the direction the strap adjoins directly to the watch body. The strap is seamlessly merged into the top and bottom of the watch, rather than having a hinge, creating a more comfortable fit around the wrist joint. You can obviously still change straps though, using the pin mechanic to swap out to different colours or materials if you see fit.

Physical Fitness and Wellness Monitoring

One of the Watch GT 2e’s core highlights is a batch of new workout modes that you can choose from, including running, walking, swimming, and bicycling, to more alternative actions like parkour, concert dance, skateboarding, and belly dancing, which is a nice touch to include those.

Software and Performance

The Watch GT 2e utilises Huawei’s own Karin A1 chip with 4GB of RAM rather than the 2GB on the previous Watch GT generation. It utilises Huawei’s LiteOS to run things on the software system side, with the UI being as simple and intuitive as possible, so anyone familiar with Android or iOS should have no issues.

Battery Life

Huawei lays claim that the Watch GT 2e’s 455mAh cell can endure 2 weeks on a separate charge, although, in practice, it hinges upon how you utilise it. With uninterrupted pulse rate supervising, GPS tracking, and music replay, the battery life is realistically expected to survive around 5 to 8 days.

Verdict

The Huawei Watch GT 2e is a solid physical fitness watch with enough to lure in exercise fans regardless of what discipline they may be into. From dancing to boxing, gym activities to field sports, the Watch GT 2e can provide quite a bit of insight, no matter your level of proficiency.

You will, by and large, be confined to utilising Huawei’s own physical fitness tracking and mobile apps, but they’re pretty decent and won’t seem barebones compared to the other alternatives out there. Given the current price and features it packs in, it’s hard to find something that competes with Huawei’s Watch GT 2e offering.
