Why Castle Lager Double Malt Might Just Be Your New Favourite Beer
Castle Lager brings together malts from 2 of South Africa’s finest growing regions to bring South Africa’s first Double Malt beer.
South African Breweries has announced a brand-spanking new beer in the Castle Lager line-up: Castle Double Malt. This new addition to the Castle family is another celebration of Castle’s 126 year legacy in beer; and here are a few facts to get you familiar with the new kid of the block:
It’s the first of its kind in SA
A lot of beers on the market claim to be the “first-ever” something, but Castle Double Malt truly is South Africa’s first-ever double malt lager, giving local beer-lovers the opportunity to indulge in something new and innovative for the local beer landscape.
Supports local
Castle’s Double Malt isn’t just a simple beer, but rather a specifically crafted concoction from those ingenious beer-scientists at SAB. As the name implies, Castle Double Malt combines two carefully selected South African malts, from Caledon and Alrode, which are combined in Castle’s own malting plant, making this a beer that really does celebrate the diversity of South Africa.
The perfect union
Like Bruce Lee and kung-fu or spaghetti and meatballs, the two specially-selected malts create a memorable union that won’t go out of style. The combination of these two special malts and the Castle brewmaster’s expertise is the secret to a perfectly balanced beer that has full body, creamy foam and a rich golden colour.
Options, options, options
While some new beers come in a ‘take it or leave it’ form, Castle knows South Africans want options, and have therefore bottled the Castle Double Malt in sleek 340ml bottles, as well as slick new 410ml pearl, green and gold cans, pairing the premium taste with a premium look and feel (it would’ve been rude not to).
The launch of Castle Double Malt is a testament to the brand’s commitment to being proudly local, by combining two carefully selected South African malts from Caledon and Alrode to bring you a superior lager. The combination of these two special malts and the Castle brewmaster’s expertise is the secret to a perfectly balanced beer that has full body, creamy foam, and a rich golden colour.
It is available in all major retail outlets and online on Takealot, and the Bottles app for R79.99 a six pack.
