Gaming-Themed Bar Opening In Joburg

For those looking to inject a little retro-geek into your evenings out, a new video game-themed bar has opened in Joburg to offer something different, and it’s looking pretty sweet.

Barcade is located on 36 Stiemens Street in Braamfontein and is currently set for a three-month pop-up period, and as the name would suggest, the venue features classics such as PacMan, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Bubble Bobble and plenty others will be available to play and attempt to get to the top of the leaderboard.

In addition to having custom-made vintage arcade machines, international craft beers, and local brews, there will be a classic American bar menu, including chicken and waffles, sticky chicken wings, deep fried Mac n Cheese bites, a pulled pork sandwich and a variety of vegetarian bar food .

Doors will open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights between 5pm and midnight as of Friday, 26 September. Entrance and games are free, including free WiFi.
