The movie month of frights, fear, and ferocity is back, as October brings with it some spooky entries as well as some furious fights. Check out the biggest movies coming your way this October:

Medieval

Release date: 7 October 2022

Inspired by the true story of Jan Žižka, one of greatest warriors in history, Medieval stars Ben Foster as the iconic soldier who is hired by Lord Boresh (Michael Caine) to kidnap the powerful Lord Rosenberg’s (Til Schweiger) fiancée, Lady Katherine (Sophie Lowe), to prevent Rosenberg’s rise to power alongside the corrupt King Sigismund.

Smile

Release date: 7 October 2022

For a bit of a horror twist this September, Smile brings a supernatural yet psychological take on the genre, with Dr. Rose Cotter, who witnesses a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient. Following that, Rose starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain and an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life. Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.

Barbarian

Release date: 21 October 2022

Starring Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long, and Georgina Campbell, Barbarian follows a young woman who is in town for a job interview, and checks into an Airbnb late at night only to find that her rental has been mistakenly double-booked with a strange man who is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to stay the night anyway, but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other house guest.

Black Adam

Release date: 21 October 2022

Everyone has been wanting to see Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in a superhero movie role, and the time has finally come, as Black Adam hits cinemas this October. The film is intended to be a spin-off from 2019’s Shazam! and the eleventh film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and stars Johnson as the titular character alongside Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan.

Halloween Ends

Release date: 28 October 2022

The sequel to the 2021 film Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends is the thirteenth instalment in the long-running horror franchise, and the final film in the “H40” trilogy, commenced with the 2018 film, which continues the 1978 film’s storyline. The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis in her final appearance as Laurie Strode, alongside James Jude Courtney, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Kyle Richards. It picks up four years after the events of Halloween Kills, as evil rears its ugly head once more, and Laurie decides to deal with it once and for all.
