The 2023 year of film is here, and while the next 12 months are full of some exciting big-name movie releases, there are some interesting entries already heating up the big-screen this January. We’ve rounded up 3 of the key movies to keep an eye out for this month.

M3GAN

Release date: 13 January 2023

Megan (written ‘M3GAN’) is the latest horror-thriller from the mind behind the Insidious franchise, James Wan. The film follows 8-year-old Cady, who is gifted M3GAN, a highly-sophisticated doll with artificial intelligence, programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. However, as you can imagine with a film in this genre, the toy begins to learn and adapt, becoming something a whole lot more sinister than Cady’s caregiver Gemma anticipated.

Babylon

Release date: 20 January 2023

From Damien Chazelle, Babylon is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles led by Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva, with an ensemble cast including Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Jean Smart. The film traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.

Plane

Release date: 27 January 2023

Plane follows a pilot who finds himself caught in a war zone after he’s forced to land his commercial aircraft during a terrible storm. The film, directed by Jean-François Richet, stars Gerard Butler (300, Geostorm), Mike Colter, Yoson An, and Tony Goldwyn.
