In summary, the good news about the MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes AMG Motorsport laptop is that it’s awesome. The bad news is that it costs around R60,000. Either way, that’s no excuse not to indulge in the sheer elegancy of its design and what it has to offer because you never know — you may find that amount of money lying around a car park.

The laptop itself is a collaboration between computer hardware giants MSI and Mercedes-Benz’ AMG racing division, as the two companies set out to create a “luxury gaming experience”. And that they did, as the Stealth 16 features a lot of high-end functionality and design features, the specs themselves highlighting this high-end approach to a gaming laptop.

Under the hood, the Stealth 16 features a 16-inch OLED display, 13th Gen Intel i9 processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, 8GBs of GDDR6 RAM, and a 2TB SSD. This thing is a beast and easily runs the latest games without any fuss or hiccups.

It also features some extra bells and whistles, such as a fingerprint sensor, all the ports for your peripherals, and some admittedly punchy speakers: including two 2W tweeters and four 2W woofers, giving you some solid sound during gaming.

Of course, the design itself is one of the big drawcards, with the Stealth 16 bringing some unique racing-themed aesthetics to the laptop world where many gaming laptops are beginning to look extremely similar.

The Selenite Gray colour scheme resembles Mercedes’ iconic tone, which gives a prestigious look to the entire body of the laptop. There are some gorgeously backlit RGB keys (which all have their own individual lighting), some great accents and branded decals on the lid, and some RGB lighting on the hinge bar at the back.

The thematic motorsport elements are present throughout the smaller details too, with the space bar and webcam housing including a carbon fibre-like texture, and even the power button featuring an “engine start” labelling. This thing feels like a race car, albeit in the comfort of your lap.

Thrown into the package is an MSI mousepad and gaming mouse with all the Mercedes-AMG branding and accompanying lights to match the laptop, which is a nice touch.

It may not be on everyone’s Christmas list given the price-tag, but there’s no doubt that racing aficionados and true AMG fans will take a lot of joy in appreciating the meticulous details put into the design of the Stealth 16.
