With the May Savings special having launched on the Playstation Store, there are a lot of PS5 and PS4 games getting the price-cut treatment. We’ve rounded up 5 of the best to consider if you’re looking to pick up a new game this payday.

Resident Evil: Village (PS4 & PS5) – R299

Resident Evil 8: Village might look a little different, but it feels like a ‘greatest hits’ of the Resident Evil franchise, giving you all the little beloved bits and pieces that made the series a household name, while also throwing some serious curveballs in terms of creatures, setting, and tone. It’s a fantastic survival-horror experience that highlights how well the series has evolved over the years.

Lost Judgment (PS4 & PS5) – R237.25

There aren’t many games that can take you from meticulously investigating a crime-scene to a dance competition, but not before indulging in a street brawl with some thugs right after gambling at a curbside casino. Much like its Yakuza step-brother games, Lost Judgment (yes, it’s spelt that way) is a smorgasbord of genres and styles, but with an overarching detective-adventure theme that makes it one of the most interesting games in 2021 that should not be overlooked. Of course, Lost Judgment isn’t without some hiccups, but it’s an incredibly enjoyable experience that isn’t replicated by anything else on the market, and that’s not often said in this day and age.

Darksiders 3 (PS4) – R149.80

Darksiders 3 knows exactly what it is and its all the better for it. Prioritising combat and pace allows the game to be slick and enjoyable without being bogged down by layers upon layers of RPG systems. It has its hiccups here and there, but it’s nothing that detracts from a fun, focused, and direct hack-‘n-slash adventure.

Wolfenstein: Alt History Collection (PS4) – R259.80

Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus

If there’s an FPS franchise that deserves some more attention, it’s the rebooted Wolfenstein games from the past few years. Developer Machine Games did a fantastic job at bringing back the Nazi-killing-machine BJ Blazkowitz in some of the best shooters to date. They’re fast, brutal, challenging, and feature a really good story to boot. This collection contains Wolfenstein: The New Order, it’s expansion Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and the co-op spin-off Wolfenstein: Youngblood. If you haven’t played these yet, for the price, it’s a steal.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 (PS4) – R149.80

The fifth instalment in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series, and sequel to the well-received Contracts spin-off, is a sandbox sniping bonanza, where you have to take out targets and complete objectives in any order you deem fit. While the Sniper: Ghost Warrior games have been good, they’ve lacked a little pazazz, but Contracts 2 finally gave the Ghost Warrior series a true unique identity. The levels and environments are massive and diverse, and the game gives you a lot of tricks to pull off some spectacular assassinations, including new climbing mechanics, sniping tools, and gadgets. It really is a playground of murder for the player, and the stealth and combat mechanics work excellently.
