Chery’s Mysterious Bakkie Breaks Cover: Pics Inside
Take a first look at what Chery has in store for the bakkie market.
The South African bakkie market, the largest car segment in the country, is heating up with a number of new brands and options that are rivalling the more common options that have dominated for years.
Chinese brand Chery looks to be the next company throwing its hat into the ring, as a new Chery bakkie is rumoured to be in production for the global market.
Spotted by Autotrader at a Chery car show in China, the Chery KP11 is a concept of a vehicle that the manufacturer is said to be working on.
“It’s worth noting that as this is an early concept offering, there was no mention of intended power and drivetrain, nor was an example of an interior offered (which explains the limo-tint windows),” explained Autotrader. “Nevertheless, the KP11 is an attractive double cab LCV proposition that has the looks to compete with South Africa’s best-selling Hilux and Ranger.”
It was confirmed that while the KP11 might not be the specific bakkie heading to South Africa, the brand is working on something for the local market, which would probably utilise many elements from this concept.
What are your thoughts? Would you like to see a Chery bakkie on the SA market?
