Wallabies fly-half Quade Cooper made his professional boxing debut on Friday, 8 February 2013, when he took on Barry Dunnett, with Cooper managing to defeat his opponent in the first round.

The mercurial playmakers boxing debut was impressive, as Cooper’s movement around the ring and defensive qualities were evident.

Cooper landed some solid shots on Dunnett, who went down early in the first half. After getting up and continuing, Cooper once again landed a knockout blow, that put Dunnett on the canvas, with Cooper winning by KO.

The fight was the undercard bout for All Black Sonny Bill Williams fight with former South African heavyweight Francois Botha, although controversy has followed the match, after it was called off after 10 rounds, and Botha failing a post-match drug test.
