Next Tony Hawk Game Coming To PS4
The Birdman himself has delivered some good news that will get gamers back in the air…
Tony Hawk has announced that a new skateboarding game bearing his name will be released this year on PS4.
Hawk appeared during Sony’s keynote at the CES 2015 show in Las Vegas on Monday to announce that the project was in development for the console. The news follows his earlier tease back in November, when he announced via Twitter that something was in the works.
No further information was given regarding the game itself. However, confirming that work had begun on a new console title last year, Hawk also said that he thinks “fans of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series will be hyped”.
Neither Hawk nor Sony stated that the new game will be exclusive to PS4, meaning a multiformat release remains a possibility.
The last game in the main Tony Hawk’s series was the ninth title, Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, which released in 2007.
Since then publisher Activision has released two critically panned spin-offs – Tony Hawk Ride and Tony Hawk Shred, which used a plastic skateboard peripheral – and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, a downloadable remake of the first two games in the series.
A free-to-play mobile game called Tony Hawk’s Shred Session was soft-launched by Activision in a handful of countries in mid-2014 before being “postponed indefinitely”.

Let’s hope it goes back to the basics, but with some new twists. They have to try and take on EA’s Skate franchise, so it’s gonna be tough, but I think there’s some talented people behind the THPS series.

Ya, hopefully they go back to the old style of gameplay. No more of those silly side missions and lame mini movies. I’m sure it will be awesome.
