Another Low-Cost Airline Taking Off In SA
Skywise Airline set to open up the low-cost airline game in SA.
After the launch of FlySafair, another South Africa budget airline is preparing to launch on 11 February.
Skywise Airline is the new kid of the block, and the company has been in the planning phase for some time, encountering various setbacks before PAK Africa acquired Skywise’s license in October 2014.
The airline is the brainchild of 1time founders Rodney James (CEO of Skywise), Glenn Orsmond (was CEO of 1time), Michael Kaminski (was head of IT at 1time); and Johan Bortslap (who was Sun Air’s Managing Director). More recently Wayne Duvenhage (previous head of Avis South Africa) has joined as Commercial Director.
The current routes planned include Cape Town to Johannesburg, and visa verse, with more routes likely to be added in the future if the new brand is seen as a success.
Tickets will go on sale on 11 February for flights from March 2015 and onward.
