Well, the week is flying by and as people dudes and dudettes settle into the chaos of 2015, it’s a good opportunity to simmer down with a trip to the movies, and there are some crackers dropping this week:

Taken 3

Of course, Taken 3 leads the pack this week and is arguably the must-watch film of the weekend.

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) is back, and as expected, he’s going to be hitting a lot of people in the throat and face. He’s also being pursued by a savvy police inspector (Forest Whitaker), and as a result, Mills will have to employ his own ‘particular set of survival skills’ to  exact his unique brand of justice.

Unbroken

Angelina Jolie steps out of the limelight and into the director’s chair for this film about the human spirit.

Based on the book by Laura Hillenbrand, this drama focuses on Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell), a troubled youngster who is encouraged to take up track to direct his energy towards something that would give him a sense of pride. Louie went on to set records as a runner and even made it to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany. In 1941 Louie enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces, but is captured by the Japanese. Thrown into a prisoner-of-war camp, he was tormented by prison guard Mutsuhiro Watanabe, who was considered one of the 40 most wanted war criminals in Japan.

Pride

And if you’re looking for some laughs this weekend, Pride is one of the more heartwarming movie on offer.

The movie follows UK gay activists who work to help miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984, and its packed full of ridiculousness, good deeds, and great camaraderie between very different people.
