While the weekend has come to an end, it’s fair to say that it was jam-packed with some epic sporting moments, and we’ve rounded up the best of the best that will be the talking-points around the office water-cooler this week:

Southee punishes England – NZ pacer Tim Southee took a career best 7-wicket haul against England in Wellington.

Philippe Coutinho’s screamer for Liverpool – out of nowhere, the Liverpool midfielder unleashed a rocket from about 30 yards into the top corner to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.

Josua Tuisova’s try for Toulon – the French giant’s Fijian flyer scored a brilliant solo try by somehow escaping the clutches of defenders who surrounded him on the wing.

India humble the Proteas – India broke their jinx by defeating South Africa first time in Cricket World Cup.

Rabbitohs win World Club Championship – the Australian rugby league NRL champions travelled north to play the St Helens which proved to be a one-sided affair and show the strength of the Aussie game.

Coutinho’s goal must be the pick of the weekend. Goal of the season contender. I can feel people start using the dreaded “C” word in the coming weeks if the Proteas lose again, but like AB said nobody remembers who you lost to in the group game if you win the World Cup.

It was a cracker – and from a difficult position. Pirlo’s was also a fantastic strike and is definitely worth looking up, but Coutinho’s was class. And I agree with you Eben, people are going to start bashing the Proteas, but if you make it through to the end, the group stages are a distant memory. They should show some resilience and bounce back.

Ya but everyone remembers if you don’t win it.

The Proteas game was dismal. Lions were even worse. Chelsea played well but we’re denied 2 quite clear penalties. Things didn’t pan out for any of my teams.
