Bollywood’s Take On Rugby Is Hilarious, Brutal, and Ridiculous [Video]
Prepare to cringe…
If you love rugby movies, you should definitely check out the likes of Invictus, Forever Strong, or The Ground We Won, maybe even Bollywood’s Sye, although we’re not quite sure if the sport in the latter movie even constitutes as rugby.
We say this because a number of glorious sporting scenes from the 2004 Bollywood film resurfaced recently, after a social media user on Reddit rediscovered the footage.
Wikipedia tells us the plot is centred around two warring college student groups who battle on the rugby field to prove superiority.
One day, a local mafia leader purchases the rugby pitch and the rival teams are forced to set their differences aside to play a rugby match to win back their pitch.
Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, the film depicts players being stomped on, kicked in the face, pinned down and gagged by other players and slammed in tackles.
There are a couple of dramatic tries scored, and a sickening crotch-stomp … all while shocked spectators look on.
Quality stuff.
