Giant Robot Death Battle Is On! Japan Accepts US Challenge [Video]
Let’s get ready to ruuuuuummmble!
Mere days after being challenged by US-based MegaBots to a showdown between giant piloted fighting robots, Japan’s Suidobashi Heavy Industry has accepted, and then promptly raised the stakes.
“We can’t let another country win this,” Suidobashi founder Kogoro Kurata says in his responsevideo (after talking a bit of smack, naturally). “Giant robots are Japanese culture. Yeah, I’ll fight. Absolutely.”
However, Kurata, whose 13-foot-tall Kuratas robot fires BBs at 6,000 rounds per minute from twin Gatling guns, has one condition: that the battle be melee combat. “If we’re going to win this,” he says, “I want to punch them to scrap, and knock them down to do it.”
We love the enthusiasm of the Americans, but we’re putting our money on Kurata for this one.
