These Epic Socks Are 15 Times Stronger Than Steel
Basically armour for your feet.
If you’re tired of those old foot-dungeons you call shoes, you’ll be ecstatic to know that a Swiss company has invented a pair of socks that are not only stronger than steel, but comfortable and flexible too.
Barefoot Company is the team behind the project, which has been dubbed Free Your Foot (FYF). The footwear reinvents the classic sock by combining it with Dyneema fibers, which were invented by chemist Albert Pennings in the 1960s and are considered to be among the world’s strongest fibers.
The project picked up some momentum when the socks were discovered on Kickstarter, and after the Swiss company raised over $300,000 (their initial goal was $10,000), the FYF socks went into production.
The socks are available for pre-order and cost $80 a pair. Hopefully they’re not like other run-of-the-mill socks, as losing one of these would be heartbreaking.
