Red Bull has made quite a splash in a number of different sporting arenas, and their team-up with Aston Martin in Formula 1 has quite a number of fans excited to see how the crew performs. Capetonians will have a great sneak-peek to look forward to on the 2nd of June when the Red Bull Cape Town Circuit takes place at the Cape Town Grand Parade.

The F1-loving public will get to see Red Bull’s Aston Martin up-close and personal, as it screams around the inner-city, beginning with a starting point at Cape Town’s City Hall.

Red Bull is quite chuffed with their new car, claiming that it’s a “technological marvel” that can keep up with the best if the best. It’s not just empty bluster, either, as the car has been designed by some of the best engineers around and has taken four F1 World Constructor’s Championship awards consecutively – so clearly the tech in this beast is impressive. The car can reach 0-100 km/h in a rapid 2.4 seconds and will hit speeds of over 250 km/h at full tilt.

It has been confirmed that veteran F1 star David Coulthard will be behind the wheel at the event. The 48-year-old, who is now a presenter, managed to rack up 13 race wins and 62 podium finishes during his time on the F1 circuit.

The international racing star expected to attend the Red Bull Cape Town Circuit will be revealed in the coming months, and they’ll also be joined by a selection of South African motorsport notables.

Best of all – the event is going to feature a bunch of other family-friendly activities throughout the day and entrance is free. So keep the 2nd of June open and watch the Red Bull car zip through the streets of the Mother City!
