TopGear SA is bringing home one of the world’s most iconic motoring segments: “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car”, launching this April exclusively on the TopGear South Africa YouTube Channel.

Globally celebrated and hilariously competitive, the segment captured imaginations on the original UK TopGear series, famously hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, where celebrities battled it out for lap-time glory in an affordable car. Now it’s South Africa’s turn to burn rubber, chase bragging rights, and bring this legendary format to life — with a proudly local twist.

Each episode will see a well-known South African take on the Formula-K Race Track in Benoni, behind the wheel of our feisty little hero — the Suzuki Swift. But don’t be fooled by the badge. This Swift has been stripped, modified, and turned into a proper track-ready machine by C O Motorsports, under the watchful eye of Craig O’Donaghue, and fully sponsored by ATS. Think OMP bucket seats, 6-point roll cage, racing harnesses, and helmets — because we don’t just race, we race safely. In a nod to the original UK series, which famously featured the Suzuki Liana, the Swift’s inclusion feels perfectly fitting, thanks to its dynamic handling and impressive affordability.

Hosting all the chaos is none other than Jason Goliath — comedian, car nut, and your high-octane guide through each celebrity’s motoring mayhem. Expect full-throttle interviews, sideways laughs, and leaderboard battles with a side of squealing tyres.

Episodes drop monthly on the TopGear South Africa YouTube Channel, with behind-the-scenes content across digital, social, and print.
