Vespas have, and always will be, sought after by those living in big and small cities across the world, but in truth, they’re not always the most accessible in terms of cost.

Thankfully, Vespa has announced the new 150cc engine variant, the Vespa VXL 150, which Vespa South Africa has confirmed will be launching on our shores. The previous VXL 150 model has been available in India for a few years.

Vespa says the VXL 150 is “the most cost-effective way to join the Vespa community” and offers a classic Vespa design with a far more appetising price-tag, sitting at R59,000.

The VXL 150 has a 149.5cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine capable of 90 km/h; and features round headlights, a monocoque full-steel body, and signature curves synonymous with the Vespa brand, The aircraft-derived hydraulic single side-arm front suspension has anti-dive characteristics, and a dual effect hydraulic shock absorber in the rear has four adjustable positions.

The upright riding posture makes it comfortable to ride on and easy to manoeuvre, and a semi-digital instrument cluster shows vital readings like speed, kilometres travelled and high beam indication among others.

The under-seat utility box has a light along with a USB charger, which makes it ideal for storing your valuables and tech when on-the-go.

The Vespa VXL 150 will be available from Vespa South Africa. No release date is confirmed as of yet.
