Retro meets running tech.

Adidas has been at the forefront of the athleisure and fitness curve for quite a while now, and they’ve seen significant success developing new materials like Primeknit, and their Boost cushioning material.

What Adidas also relies on is a portfolio of retro designs that are permanently popular and in demand, like their Samba, Gazelle, and Superstar lifestyle sneakers. It would only seem logical that at some stage the innovative futurism and retro tradition would collide – and that amalgamation takes the form of the Adidas Iniki, also known as the I-5923.

The upper’s silhouette has elements from their traditional lifestyle sneakers, particularly the Samba, and even uses similar suede-like materials for some of the paneling at the forefoot and heel.

But, while the upper is traditional, it’s the sole that incorporates Adidas’s impressive tech, namely their highly popular Boost cushioning. Boost is praised as being one of the most comfortable cushioning options out there, not just for everyday casual sneakers but also for serious running – so this model is really a marriage of everything that has made and continues to make Adidas so successful.
