Puma’s New Tech-Packed Hybrid Rocket Runners Hit SA
Puma combines their best bits of tech to make a running shoe for a new generation.
Anyone who has been following running shoe or running sneaker releases for the last while have noticed that all the value lies in the soles. Different cushioning technology is how brands are differentiating themselves and offering the biggest improvements in comfort is what is giving shoe giants the upper-hand.
Puma’s Ignite foam has been featured in a few of their running and fashion inspired sneakers prior to the release of this new silhouette, as has their NRGY bead technology to provide energy return.
The HYBRID Rocket goes a step further by combining the two – adding Ignite foam to NRGY bead soles to create the HYBRID sole. In theory this should get runners the best balance of energy return from the NRGY beads, as well as a comfortable cushioning effect from the Ignite foam.
We’ve talked a lot about the soles – and in all honesty the futuristic split-sole design looks great, but the upper isn’t too shabby either, and has also appeared on previous Puma shoes. Their evoKnit uppers are a lightweight woven fabric, which will lend itself well to keeping feet cool during long runs due to the breathable design. It will also have a bit of added lock-down created by the collared, one-piece structure.
The Hybrid Rockets are now available for R2,299 from all Puma retailers as well as the majority of the established athletic and fashion sneaker stores and online.
