Benji Marshall wants to play for All Blacks
Fleet-footed playmaker Benji Marshall has expressed his desire to represent New Zealand in rugby league, with a Super Rugby stint in NZ is likely.

League star Benji Marshall has expressed his interest to play rugby union, adding that a career with the All Blacks is something that he still desires.
“I always wanted to play for the All Blacks and that dream changed once I’d played rugby league. Coming back to union and the possibility that might be a reality if I make the transition well enough and play well enough, I’d love the opportunity,” said Marshall.
The 28-year old was in Auckland to meet with Blues head coach John Kirwan, and said that while he has had offers in France, Japan and Australia, New Zealand would be his first choice.
“Preferably I’d like to come here… to play for the All Blacks is a pretty big factor,” he says.
Marshall’s comments then minimise the possibility of the playmaker heading abroad from his home country to try his hand at union.
When asked where he’d see himself on the field, Marshall explained that he wants to be as involved as he can be.
“I’m happy to play anywhere to be honest. I like to be in control, so 10, 12, maybe 15.”
Marshall’s manager Martin Tauber also said that a Japanese stint may be on the cards towards the end of Marshall’s career.
Benji Marshall wouldn’t be unfamiliar with national representation, as he has captained the New Zealand rugby league side to a World Cup victory in 2008.
