Chiefs and Highlanders ignite Super Rugby
The Chiefs managed to unease the Highlanders in a compelling 41-27 winning performance in Dunedin
The Chiefs and Highlanders managed to set alight the 2013 Super Rugby competition in an entertaining match that saw 7 tries, which resulted in a 41-27 win for the Chiefs.
It became immediately evident that both teams wanted to play expansive games, and Highlanders fullback Ben Smith kicked the try proceedings for the home team.
Fleet-footed centre Tim Nanai Williams then hit back for the visitors and cut the defence up to get over the try line.
Highlanders captain Hosea Gear also picked up a try for himself, beating out a number of defenders with his sheer pace and strength.
The second half became all about the Chiefs, as the backline used some quick hands, particularly that of Gareth Anscombe, which put Patrick Osborne over the tryline in the corner.
The Highlanders did move the ball around well, and the small but explosive Kade Poki stepped through the line and his pace to race towards the tryline.
From then on, it was the Chiefs all the way home, as Tikoirotuma and Nanai-Williams (grabbing his second) picked up tries, and Anscombe had a solid kicking performance, adding the extras for his team.
