Force wait on O’Connor verdict
James O’Connor’s alleged off-field antics have put the acceptance of the star at the Western Force on hold.
James O’Connor has to be one of the most talented players in the world, however, the young versatile back isn’t unfamiliar with off-field controversy, and is now putting his future in Australia at risk with the latest misconduct.
O’Connor is under investigation by the ARU following an alleged incident which saw the 23-year old escorted out of Perth airport after he was reportedly intoxicated and was argumentative with the staff.
O’Connor has been searching for a franchise following his departure from the Melbourne Rebels, and with the Western Force his only likely option, he has put the deal in jeopardy, if the reports prove to be accurate.
“The club is aware of recent reporting regarding James O’Connor and is awaiting the outcome of an investigation being conducted by the ARU,” said the Western Force on its official Twitter account.
Following the off-the-field misdemeanours and the underwhelming performance against the British and Irish Lions, O’Connor has put an undesirable aura around himself, but hopefully a return to the Western Force can mark a resurgence for the fleet-footed star.
