Former Wallaby and Brumbies flanker George Smith will be re-joining the ranks of the Super Rugby franchise.

Smith left the Brumbies to join Toulon in 2012, before playing for Japanese club Suntory over the last season.

“It’s exciting news for the club that we have been able to bring George back to Canberra. He’s achieved a great deal in the game and was an important part of the team for many years, so naturally everyone at the Brumbies will be pleased to have him back,” said Brumbies coach Jake White.

“George’s record and ability to win games is outstanding. The guy has won Super Rugby Championships, he’s won big games for the Wallabies and he’s played in a Rugby World Cup final so I want him to bring that winning culture back here to the Brumbies,” added White.

Smith will begin training with the Brumbies from next week, making himself eligible for selection against the Waratahs on the 9th of March.
