The official Movember organisers have announced that the theme for the upcoming month of moustaches is Made in Movember, in order to promote South African industry.

“This year’s Made in Movember theme is inspired by the global trend of proudly supporting locally grown and manufactured products,” says Garron Gsell, Country Manager of Movember South Africa. “It encourages the authenticity of putting in the time and effort to create something exceptional and worthwhile – like growing an awesome mo in Movember.”

The Movember campaign, which sees males across the globe flaunting their upper-lip hair to raise awareness and fund for men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems, has become a behemoths of a movement and the team behind the initiative have done a pretty damn-fine job. The campaign has become a global movement that has helped generate significant funds and awareness for medical research and support.

According to the latest Movember Foundation report, the campaign has raised over AUD$580 million (around R5,82 billion) since launching back in 2003. Since the inception, over 4 million mo-bros have registered, grown their moustaches, and donated to the cause.

Alongside many other participating countries in the world, Movember officially launched campaigns in South Africa in partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa in 2010, and things have been growing from strength-to-strength since then.

Check out more on the official Movember website if you’d like to read more on the campaign and donate towards the various men’s health organisations.
