Nonu pleads guilty for spear tackle
Ma’a Nonu faces a three-week ban following a dangerous tackle against the Crusaders.
Highlanders and All Black centre Ma’a Nonu has accepted a three-week ban after pleading guilty to a tip-tackle in last week’s game against the Crusaders.
Nonu was cited for a dangerous tackle against Tom Marshall in the 42-12 defeat to the Crusaders in Dunedin. Nonu received a red card from referee Steve Walsh following the incident.
Nonu’s guilty plea also let to a one-week reduction to the ban, leaving him with a three-week suspension.
The powerful centre will now miss the remaining two games of the Highlanders’ season, which are against the Hurricanes and Rebels.
