O’Connor, Barnes likely to start against Lions

The Australian media has lined-up the expected starting XV that Robbie Deans will select ahead of the first Lions test on Saturday, 22 June 2013.

Robbie Deans is set to name his starting XV on Thursday that will British and Irish Lions in the first test in Brisbane, although the Australian press are confidently predicting the side has been picked and have all revealed there are likely to be three new caps.

Israel Folau, Christian Lealiifano and Ben Mowen are all expected to start, with the playmaking roles falling to James O’Connor at flyhalf and Berrick Barnes at fullback.

Kane Douglas is speculated to be named alongside James Horwill, who will captain the Wallabies against the Lions.

Mowen will be placed on the side of the scrum, with Wycliff Palu and Michael Hooper playing at number 8 and 7 respectively.

Rugby league-convert Israel Folau is expected to start on the wing, with Digby Ioane taking his usual spot on the adjacent wing.

Wallabies likely starting XV: 1 Benn Robinson, 2 Stephen Moore, 3 Ben Alexander, 4 James Horwill (c), 5 Kane Douglas, 6 Ben Mowen, 7 Michael Hooper, 8 Wycliff Palu, 9 Will Genia, 10 James O’Connor, 11 Digby Ioane, 12 Christian Lealiifano, 13 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 14 Israel Folau, 15 Berrick Barnes.
