Springbok team to face All Blacks announced
An unchanged Bok side with go head-to-head with the All Blacks for one the most anticipated encounter of the Rugby Championship.
Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer has announced the team that will face the All Blacks at Eden Park on Saturday, August 14.
The team is unchanged from the lineup that beat the Wallabies 38-12 in Brisbane last weekend.
Zane Kirchner will retain the fullback position, while Willie le Roux sticks to the right wing – a combination which seemed to work well against the Australians.
The bench is also the same and should play a greater role against the spirited All Blacks, who are undoubtedly up for the challenge.
Springboks: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Willie le Roux, 13 JJ Engelbrecht, 12 Jean de Villiers (c), 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Flip van der Merwe, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Adriaan Strauss, 17 Gurthro Steenkamp, 18 Coenie Oosthuizen, 19 Juandré Kruger, 20 Siya Kolisi, 21 Jano Vermaak, 22 Pat Lambie, 23 Jan Serfontein.

Very interesting to see no changes. I think the win last week may have set up false expectations for the game against the All Blacks. The Boks were the better team but there were errors in our game that I can see the All Blacks using against us. I dont know if the Pienaar/Steyn combination will be as effective against the Kiwis. There were a few miss kicks “down the throat” of the Aussie defense, which I don’t think will go unpunished by the All Black’s backline. Also, there is a huge question mark when it comes to Morne Steyn kicking in high pressure situations!
In saying that, the Boks do have good momentum at the moment and are playing with a new enthusiasm/spark. This weekend is going to be THE most exciting fixtures of the year!

It’s a good call for Meyer to have some consistency – even if combinations are still premature – we need to start working on them!
Vermeulen/Louw/Alberts should win the loose trio battle and make a good platform for Pienaar to deliver some good ball to Steyn.
But you’re right – the ABs won’t let chances go to waste like the Wallabies did. They butchered a few.
The ABs have said that this is their biggest match of the year and the Boks are definitely up for it – going to be a cracker!

Good line up, might be stretched against the all black’s attack.. All blacks by 5.

I think the AB’s do have width when it comes to attacking capabilities but I think the Bok forward pack are up to it. The question is can the AB forwards match the Springbok forward pack and can they keep their discipline?
I dont think this is going to be a beautiful game of rugby, its going to be very physical and tense. Heyneke came out and said he doesn’t mind if the Boks only win by one point, so i think he’s planning on the forwards taking the fight to the AB’s.
